Melksham Town FC

Melksham Town Football Club, originally established as Melksham Football Club in 1876, boasts a remarkable heritage. As a founding member of the Wiltshire League in 1894, they quickly achieved success, winning the Division One championship in 1903–04 and the Wiltshire Senior Cup the very next season. Throughout their early years, under various names, they consistently performed well, securing multiple runner-up finishes in the league. Adopting their current name in 1951, Melksham continued to thrive, with more Division One runner-up positions and another Wiltshire Senior Cup triumph in 1969–70, solidifying their status as a prominent local club.

Their progression to the Western League in 1974 marked a new chapter of achievement. Melksham Town won the Wiltshire Senior Cup again in 1977–78 and proudly claimed the Division One championship in 1979–80, earning promotion to the Premier Division. Their debut season in the Premier Division saw them win the Wiltshire Premier Shield, a trophy they successfully defended and won again in 1984–85 and 1985–86. After a brief return to the Wiltshire Football League, they swiftly bounced back, winning the Premier Division and Senior Knock-Out Cup the following season, securing immediate promotion back to the Western League. Further Western League Division One championships followed in 1996–97, leading to promotion to the Premier Division. The club continued its cup-winning form, adding more Wiltshire Premier Shields and Wiltshire Senior Cups to their collection. Notably, they were Western League Division One runners-up in 2010–11, earning promotion back to the Premier Division. Recent successes include winning the Wiltshire Senior Cup in 2012–13, 2013–14, and 2015–16, and triumphing as Western League Premier Division champions in 2014–15. Most recently, a strong runner-up finish in the Premier Division in 2017–18 earned them a well-deserved promotion to Division One South of the Southern League, showcasing their enduring strength and ambition.
