ATARANGI - ONE22

ATARANGI is DJ and burgeoning Producer from Aotearoa, New Zealand, currently living in Naarm, Melbourne. Hailed as a master of emergence, their reactive, never-the-same sets have made them a mainstay in the queer underground across the Pacific.

Birthed through the ever-changing ecosystem of ballroom, ATARANGI is a DJ and community leader who joins a legion of DJs pushing the underground to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. ATARANGI has cultivated a sound that resonates globally—a sound touched by many, mastered by few. Known for their electrifying spontaneity and unmatched versatility, their sets defy expectation and have solidified their status as a cornerstone of the Pacific and global club circuits.

As well as being a staple in the ballroom community at home and abroad, he also facilitates Tāmaki Makaurau-based queer club night and record label NYMPHO as their head booking agent. Through this, he has booked acts such as Doss, MikeQ, and Kevin Aviance. Their commitment to celebrating sexual liberation and gender euphoria on and off the dance floor is exemplified through their dedication to one of Aotearoa’s leading club nights.

Having captivated audiences alongside the likes of LSDXOXO, Overmono, Nia Archives, KI/KI, HorsegiirL, VTSS, and TAAHLIAH, he's made unforgettable appearances on the shores of Aotearoa at 121 Festival, Laneway, and Beacon Festival. He has also left their mark on the global stage, playing the first all-Indigenous Māori Boiler Room in Aotearoa curated by Lady Shaka, and delivering a high-energy B2B set with Surusinghe at the Boiler Room Sydney afterparty. Across the Pacific, he's dominated Australian stages, from the Sydney Opera House for VIVID Festival in 2023 to a standout performance at Beyond the Valley in 2024, and electrifying back-to-back sets with the likes of Skin on Skin and Chippy Nonstop. With two sold-out six-hour sets under their belt—one for NYMPHO in New Zealand and another for House of Mince in Sydney—he has cemented his reputation as a dynamic and enduring force in the music scene.

After gracing the cover of Mixmag ANZ in 2024, as well as mix releases alongside Dr Dubplate for EC2A and Jyoty on Rinse FM, Triple J, and Aotearoa’s coveted Friendly Potential Radio Radio, ATARANGI has carved out a lane of his own, cementing his place as a driving force in contemporary club culture.

Many things can be true, but one thing is for certain: ATARANGI’s infectious, uninhibited sound will soundtrack dancefloors for years to come.
