Join The Sisterhood Project and Meningitis Centre Australia for a free community webinar marking World Sepsis Day, designed to help parents, carers and anyone caring for children better understand meningococcal disease, sepsis and when to seek urgent medical care.

Although meningococcal disease is rare, it can progress rapidly and become life-threatening. Early symptoms can look similar to many common childhood illnesses, making it difficult to know when to worry. This webinar will provide practical, evidence-based information to help you recognise the warning signs, understand the role of vaccination, and feel more confident knowing when to act.

During this webinar, you'll learn:

• how to recognise the early signs and symptoms of meningococcal disease
• why meningococcal disease can progress to sepsis so quickly
• when to seek urgent medical care
• practical safety-netting advice if your child is becoming more unwell
• the role of meningococcal vaccination in protecting children and young people
• where to access trusted information and support for families.

You'll also have the opportunity to hear from clinical experts and lived experience advocates, and ask your questions during a live Q&A session.

Who you will hear from 

Trevor Quick - Meningitis Centre Australia

Trevor has been the outreach officer at Meningitis Centre Australia since 2022. Trevor has a strong background working face to face within the community in the NFP environment. While not a medical professional, Trevors ability to connect with varying age groups and socio demographics gives him the ability to place medical terminology into simple language, easily understood for the every day person.

Dr Linny Kimly Phuong - The Water Well Project

Linny is an Australian trained paediatrician and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). She has clinical experience at many local tertiary hospitals including the Royal Children’s Hospital, Monash Children’s, Royal Women’s Hospital and Austin Health. She currently consults at Cabrini Health and Epworth Health.

Linny is an active researcher in paediatric infections and vaccine safety. She is currently completing a PhD (University of Melbourne, Department of Paediatrics) studying risk factors in pneumococcal infections in children.

Grace Larson - The Sisterhood Project

Paediatric ICU nurse and founder of The Sisterhood Project, Grace is also a rural mother of three children and is passionate about providing open access evidence based education for parents and carers of children
